Jaw Pain (TMJD)
If you have been diagnosed with TMJD (Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction) or have pain in the jaw, ears, forehead, scalp, neck and/or shoulders, a therapeutic intra-oral massage may be right for you.
This treatment is also beneficial for those who clench their jaw and grind their teeth at night.
What to expect from a treatment
The treatment consists of massage to the neck, shoulders, face including muscles of the mouth. We will focus the treatment on your chewing muscles, eliminating any trigger points and pain referral areas by releasing tension. This treatment includes intra-oral massage to the muscles accessed through the mouth to reduce the stress it can put on the jaw and temporomandibular joints.
Clients often experience immediate relief from treatments. It is normal to feel some tenderness in the jaw joint for a couple days after treatment.
You therapist is specifically trained in this technique and will wear latex gloves.
